Construction of the New Uzbekistan University
Fire protection of steel structures at the New Uzbekistan University complex under construction.
The steel frame is being treated: floor and roof beams and trusses. The work is carried out during construction, on exposed steelwork, before the cladding and finishes — this gives access to every face of the profile and lets the coating be applied as a continuous layer.
Scope of work on the steelwork: first the primer coating was repaired — the damaged shop primer restored, then a fire-protective coating with a 60-minute fire resistance rating was applied, and on top a black protective topcoat enamel — the colour set by the design of the building.
Total treated area — 7,383 sq m.
The steel frame is brought to its design rating of R 60 — sixty minutes of load-bearing capacity in a fire. The coating is applied by airless spray on site and follows the profile geometry without hiding the shape of the structures.
