Fire-protection, anti-corrosion materials and floors in Nukus

Why steel in Karakalpakstan needs multi-coat protection

For such an environment, a Stacor system is built up from three coats, each with its own job.

Zinc primer. Stacor EP Zinc is a zinc-rich primer that protects steel cathodically. Under ISO 12944-2 it is designed for environments up to CX, and it is used in oil refining, at power plants and on bridges.

Epoxy intermediate coat. Stacor EP, an epoxy primer for atmospheres up to C5-M according to ISO 12944, is applied over the zinc.

Sun-resistant finish. Stacor Topcoat acrylic-polyurethane enamel withstands UV, retains its colour and gloss, and can be tinted to RAL colours.

Fire protection at chemical and gas-chemical sites

In the open air. TERM-009 is a grey weather-resistant coating designed primarily for outdoor use; it is also used indoors.

Inside buildings. TERM-007 is a white thin-film intumescent coating: in dry rooms it works without a topcoat, while in humid areas and outdoors it is covered with a protective enamel.

Both coatings are applied over an anti-corrosion primer; both increase the fire-resistance limit of steel structures up to 120 minutes.

In Karakalpakstan we advise against it: salt and chemicals call for a coating system. A typical option is Stacor EP Zinc, followed by Stacor EP and a Stacor Topcoat finish; we will select the thicknesses based on a description of the site.

What fire protection is suitable for the outdoor pipe racks of a gas-chemical plant?

For outdoor structures, TERM-009 is used, as it is weather-resistant. TERM-007 is also used outdoors, but only under a protective enamel.
