Anti-corrosion protection of metal structures involves applying a protective layer based on polymer film-forming materials to a metal structure. It is precisely because of this that an electrochemical reaction begins, capable of destroying the metal completely. The rate and extent of corrosion may be related to internal, external and mechanical factors.
  • External factors High humidity and the presence of pollutants and gases in the air, the speed of liquid movement through the pipeline, the time of rust exposure on the structure and the temperature of the environment in which the metal, reinforced-concrete or other structure is located
  • Internal factors In this case, impurities in the metal alloys, the thermodynamics of the structure, its composition and density have an effect
  • Mechanical factors This is metal fatigue and cracking, as well as cavitation

Most often, anti-corrosion treatment consists of applying several layers to some type of structure, which include various chemical and organic components. The thickness of the applied layer is one of the most important parameters. The greater it is, the longer the metal structure will last. However, applying too thick a layer leads to overuse of anti-corrosion coatings and long drying. The technological chart of each anti-corrosion product specifies the recommended thicknesses of the wet and dry coating layers, the volume content of non-volatile substances and the limits for diluting the paint coating with water.
